The Apexcoupling WX/WXD series is a precision small cross universal joint coupling designed for reliable power transmission between two shafts on the same plane with angular misalignment up to 45° per joint. Available in single joint (WXD) and double joint (WX) configurations, this coupling delivers nominal torque from 11.2 to 1120 N·m. Manufactured from alloy steel (40Cr) with stainless steel (304/316) options, the series features a double pin block structure with needle roller bearing capability for speeds up to 4000 RPM. The H7 finished bore tolerance supports keyway, hexagon, and square hole customization. With the angle between shafts allowed to vary within a limited range according to working needs, the WX/WXD series is the ideal solution for packaging machinery, woodworking equipment, multi-spindle drills, CNC machines, and general industrial applications.
✅ Single (WXD) or double (WX) joint – up to 45° per joint. Pin block (1000 RPM) or needle roller bearing (4000 RPM). Alloy steel or stainless steel. H7 bore with keyway, hexagon, or square hole options.

Product Structure – Double Pin Block & Needle Roller Bearing
Two Yokes (Forks) – Precision-machined from 40Cr alloy steel or 304/316 stainless steel.
Cross Shaft (Cross Axis) – The central component that transmits torque.
Double Pin Block Structure – Provides reliable, low-maintenance operation.
Bearing Options:
Pin Block (Sliding) Bearing – Up to 1000 RPM, suitable for low-speed, high-torque applications.
Needle Roller Bearing – Up to 4000 RPM, offers high dynamic load capacity and small bearing clearance.
Single Joint (WXD) – One pivot point for angular flexibility.
Double Joint (WX) – Two pivot points for angular + offset flexibility.
💡 How it works: The WX/WXD series universal joint consists of two yokes connected by a cross-shaped central component. The double pin block structure (or optional needle roller bearings) allows for smooth angular movement while transmitting torque. The single joint (WXD) compensates for angular misalignment only, while the double joint (WX) accommodates both angular misalignment and parallel offset. The angle between shafts is allowed to change within a limited range according to working needs.
WX (Double Joint) vs WXD (Single Joint) – Which One Do You Need?
| Feature | WXD (Single Joint) | WX (Double Joint) |
|---|---|---|
| Angular misalignment | ✅ Up to 45° per joint | ✅ Up to 45° per joint |
| Parallel offset | ❌ No | ✅ Yes |
| Total articulation | Up to 45° | Up to 90° |
| Length | Shorter | Longer |
| Moment of inertia | Lower | Higher |
| Best for | Shafts intersecting at an angle on the same plane | Shafts both angled and offset |
Rule of thumb:
Use WXD (single joint) when shafts are on the same plane but angled.
Use WX (double joint) when shafts are both angled and offset – provides smoother motion.
Bearing Selection – Pin Block vs Needle Roller
| Bearing Type | Max Speed | Dynamic Load Capacity | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pin Block (Sliding) | 1000 RPM | Good | Low-speed, high-torque, shock absorption |
| Needle Roller | 4000 RPM | High | High-speed, smooth rotation, precision applications |
✅ Needle roller bearing is recommended for high-speed applications requiring smooth operation and low maintenance.
