Product Structure

  1. Rubber Tire Element – Fabric-reinforced natural rubber, vulcanized to steel plates with threaded holes.

  2. Two Half-Couplings (Hubs) – Steel hubs with bolt holes for direct connection.

  3. Bolts – High-strength bolts securing the tire element to the hubs.

💡 How it works: The UL tire coupling consists of a rubber tire element vulcanized to steel plates, which is bolted directly to two half-couplings. Torque is transmitted through the friction between the tire element and the hub flanges, combined with the shear deformation of the rubber. The tire element provides high elasticity, absorbing shock loads and compensating for angular, parallel, and axial misalignment. The element can be replaced without axial movement of the connected equipment – simply unbolt the old tire and bolt in a new one.

FAQ

Q: What is a tire coupling?
A: A tire coupling (also called a tyre coupling or rubber tire coupling) is a flexible coupling that uses a fabric-reinforced rubber tire element to transmit torque. The rubber element provides high elasticity, excellent shock absorption, and large misalignment compensation.

Q: What standard is the UL series manufactured to?
A: The UL series is manufactured to GB/T5844-2002, the Chinese national standard for tire-type couplings.

Q: What is the torque and speed range?
A: Nominal torque ranges from 10 to 25,000 N·m (UL1 to UL18). Maximum speed ranges from 5,000 to 900 RPM depending on model size.

Q: What misalignment can the coupling compensate for?
A: The UL tire coupling compensates for angular misalignment (1°–1°30′), parallel (radial) misalignment (0.4–6.3mm), and axial misalignment (±5mm to ±50mm) depending on size.

Q: Does the coupling require lubrication?
A: No. The UL tire coupling is maintenance-free – no lubrication required.

Q: Can the tire element be replaced without moving shafts?
A: Yes. The tire element can be replaced by simply unbolting the old element and bolting in a new one – no axial movement of the connected equipment is required.

Q: What is the operating temperature range?
A: The UL tire coupling operates in temperatures from -20°C to +80°C.

Q: What are the common applications?
A: Pumps, compressors, fans, mixers, conveyors, mining equipment, metallurgical equipment, and general industrial machinery with frequent starts, stops, and reversals.

Q: Can I get a custom coupling?
A: Yes. We offer OEM customization – custom bores, keyways, and special materials available. Free 3D drawings are provided for non-standard custom designs.

Q: Do you provide CAD drawings?
A: Yes. We provide free 3D drawings for custom designs and can supply engineering drawings upon request.
