Product Description

Hytrel GS Type Oil-Resistant Spider Insert – Low Maintenance, High Durability for Curved Jaw Couplings

Factory direct | DuPont™ Hytrel® polyester elastomer | Oil-resistant | 3-5x longer life than standard polyurethane | -51°C to +121°C operating range | 2.5x torque capacity of Buna-N | Low maintenance | OEM/ODM/OBM | All standard sizes available | Samples available

The Apexcoupling Hytrel GS Type Spider Insert is a premium elastomeric replacement element designed for curved jaw couplings (GS series). Manufactured from DuPont™ Hytrel® thermoplastic polyester elastomer, this spider insert delivers exceptional mechanical strength, abrasion resistance, heat resistance, and oil/chemical resistance – outperforming standard polyurethane spiders by 3 to 5 times in service life. The GS series design features a straight center of the spider tooth, providing higher stiffness due to coupling prestress, while the crowning of the spider legs allows for misalignment compensation. With a wide operating temperature range of -60°F to 250°F (-51°C to 121°C) and 2.5 times greater torque capability than Buna-N, this spider is the ideal choice for demanding applications including compressors, pumps, conveyors, mixers, and air compressors.

✅ Specifically designed for air compressors – excellent oil resistance, high temperature tolerance, and long service life.

FAQ

Q: What is a GS type spider insert?
A: A GS type spider insert is an elastomeric replacement element for curved jaw couplings (GS series). It fits between the two jaw hubs, transmitting torque while absorbing shock, dampening vibration, and compensating for misalignment.

Q: What is Hytrel material?
A: Hytrel® is a thermoplastic polyester elastomer manufactured by DuPont™. It offers a unique combination of strength, flexibility, and resistance to heat and chemicals – making it ideal for demanding coupling applications.

Q: How much longer does Hytrel last compared to polyurethane?
A: Hytrel spiders provide 3 to 5 times longer service life than standard polyurethane spiders – reducing replacement frequency and downtime.

Q: What is the operating temperature range?
A: Hytrel spiders operate in temperatures from -60°F to 250°F (-51°C to 121°C).

Q: Is the spider oil-resistant?
A: Yes. Hytrel offers excellent resistance to oil, chemicals, and abrasion – making it ideal for compressors, pumps, and other oil-exposed applications.

Q: What torque capacity does Hytrel provide?
